About this activity

Experience the ascent to Brazil’s highest peak, Yaripo (Pico da Neblina), on a transformative 15-day expedition alongside the Yanomami people. Throughout this unique journey, travellers immerse themselves in Yanomami culture, culminating in a final gathering and celebration, where they are bestowed with a Yanomami indigenous name during a sacred ritual symbolising a profound connection to the local culture. Surrounded by the vastness of the Amazon Rainforest, this experience blends adventure and culture in the heart of the Yanomami Indigenous Land.

In São Gabriel da Cachoeira, the adventure begins with an introduction to the most indigenous city in Brazil, known for its rich cultural diversity. From there, the journey continues to Maturacá, a Yanomami community nestled among crystalline rivers and stunning mountain ranges. Guided by Yanomami members, each stage of the challenging and intense trek is accompanied by breathtaking landscapes and the sacred atmosphere that surrounds the mountain, offering a deep connection to nature and the spirit of the place.

At the campsites, travellers experience transformative moments as they listen to Yanomami stories and traditions, revealing the ancestral wisdom of the people and strengthening bonds with the forest and its inhabitants. At the end of the journey, the panoramic view from the Yaripo summit, shrouded in mist, rewards every effort with a unique sense of achievement, renewal, and personal transformation.
