About this activity

The Garganta do Céu Trail is one of the most intense and awe-inspiring experiences in Rio de Janeiro. Located on the iconic Pedra da Gávea, within the Tijuca National Park, this guided adventure combines nature, challenge, and a truly unique view of the Marvelous City.

The journey begins at Point da Meire, shortly after breakfast. From there, a moderately difficult hike lasting about 3 hours leads through well-preserved sections of Atlantic Forest.

Along the way, the expert guide shares insights about the local wildlife, flora, and geology. The trail also passes through remarkable natural formations, making the route even more special.

At the Garganta do Céu viewpoint, visitors are treated to a natural frame with an incredible panoramic view. You’ll see the sea, the mountains, and famous landmarks of Rio — a perfect moment for photos and quiet contemplation.

The trail includes an optional 30-minute rest stop before the return journey.

This experience is perfect for those seeking a safe and authentic nature adventure. The service is personalised and conducted in small groups. The return follows the same route and finishes back at the starting point.

Short and intense trail with a surprising landscape

The hike to Garganta do Céu is short but requires focus, especially near the end where it gets steep and exposed. The view at the top makes every step worthwhile. The guide was experienced and gave the group the right support with calm and safety.
