Discover the Vale do Pati, in the Chapada Diamantina, on a trekking adventure filled with excitement and nature. This is one of Brazil’s most stunning routes, famous for its breathtaking landscapes and unique biodiversity.

The journey begins in the towns of Palmeiras, Andaraí or Mucugê, from where we head into the Chapada Diamantina National Park. Along the way, you’ll witness imposing mountains, deep valleys and crystal-clear rivers.

The trail passes through panoramic viewpoints with spectacular vistas and caves steeped in history. There are also stops for refreshing swims in waterfalls such as Cachoeira dos Funis and Cachoeira do Calixto.

Experienced guides accompany the group throughout, ensuring safety and sharing insights about local wildlife and vegetation. Nights are spent in the homes of local residents, offering authentic contact with the region’s culture and hospitality.

Itinerary

  • Morning: After breakfast at the lodge, we drive to the village of Guiné. We start the hike on the Aleixos trail, ascending for forty minutes to Plains of the Black River. Stop for rest and a snack on the banks of the Black River.
  • Afternoon: Hike to Rampa Viewpoint, with a stop for contemplation. Visit Funis Waterfall for a swim and then proceed to the support house for the night.

  • Morning: After breakfast, we head towards Castle Hill. A two-hour ascent with technical sections. Crossing Lapinha Cave to the panoramic viewpoints.
  • Afternoon: Return to the support house, collect our gear, and proceed for forty minutes to the next support house for the night.

  • Morning: After breakfast, we start the trail through the forest to Calixto Waterfall. Swim and contemplation.
  • Afternoon: Return to the support house, collect our gear, and proceed for another hour and a half to the next support house for the night.

  • Morning: After breakfast, we head through the forest towards Cachoeirão from Below. Swim and contemplation.
  • Afternoon: Return to the support house for the night.

  • Morning: After breakfast, we start the ascent on the Cachoeirão Crevice trail. Breaks for photos of Pati Valley.
  • Afternoon: Arrival at the panoramic viewpoint of Cachoeirão from Above. Crossing Plains of the Black River to Aleixos Descent Viewpoint. Forty-minute descent to the parking lot.

  • Includes 4 nights in rustic camps within the National Park.
    • During the trek, we will stay overnight in three support points (shelters).
    • Overnight stays are in local villages where families provide full support infrastructure.

  • A vehicle adapted for the terrain throughout the itinerary.
  • To reach Chapada Diamantina, you need to take a bus from Salvador to the town of Palmeiras, covering a distance of 450 km in a 7-hour journey (not included).
  • Additional transfer service:
    • Taxi/Transfer from Palmeiras to Vale do Capão, private transport in a vehicle for up to 3 people, covering 20 km on a dirt road. (You can add this service when booking the activity).

  • All meals during the trek are prepared by the guide.
  • Vegetarian and vegan options available.

    • Typical, simple, and homemade food from the local culture, offered at support houses along the trek.

    • Day 3: Calixto Waterfall: 15 km, 6 hours. Elevation: 900 metres. Level: moderate.
    • Day 4: Lower Cachoeirão: 10 km, 5 hours. Elevation: 900 metres. Level: difficult.
    • Day 5: Upper Cachoeirão: 17 km, 8 hours. Elevation: 1300 metres. Level: difficult.

I never imagined living something like this

Days full of effort, beauty, and raw emotion. The Pati Valley took my breath away — and not just from hiking! Every landscape felt like a gift, and staying with locals felt like being embraced by the Chapada. I’ll carry this place with me forever.
